The Oyster Festival is an anual event held in Urbana Virginia
usually the first weekend in November. It has turned out to also be a anual family event for us. This year it was great
fun. I went & camped out with my parents. Two of my dad's brothers and thier families went also. We had a blast.
The campground is only a short distance from where the festival is held. You can drive over and pay to park, the closer to
the festival of course the more expensive it is. Or you can take a hay ride over for a small fee, I think it's like 3$ each
way. The other choice is by boat, which cost only a lil more. It's a great ride. Last year we took the hay ride to the festival
and the boat back to the campgrounds. This year we elected to drive.
There is a lot to do at this festival. You can eat Oysters
in so many ways, fired, fritters, steamed, roasted, and yes even raw. Dad's brothers even did oyster shots, lol, raw
oysters in a shot glass, and let em slide on down. How gross.......lol. I didn't even go there. They also have many other
seafood goodies... crabcake sandwhiches, seafood fritters, what ever ya want just about. You can get corn on the cob, roasted
in the shuck, bloomin onions, fries, just about anything. But no beer,alochol not allowed at the festival, gotta
go back to the camper for that, lol. It's what we do, eat at the festival and party at the camper.
They also have crafts at the festival you can buy
about any craft imaginable. The campground even has it's own craft show as well. They have live bands. There's something for
everyone. They have a huge parade on Friday evening and again on Saturday afternoon. So if you're ever in Virginia the
1st weekend in November it's a must do event :)
